Dugway geode beds: status and limits

The Dugway geode area west of the populated Wasatch Front is another name people treat as a free-for-all. It isn’t. Confirm the land status on the bed you actually walk onto.

Status in one line

The commonly described public beds are on BLM in the west desert. That does not bless every two-track in Juab County. Military, SITLA, and private ground sit in the same landscape. If the ownership layer is not BLM, leave the geodes.

Access is part of the rule

This is playa and clay country. A “public” bed you cannot reach without tearing the road after rain is still a bad idea. Stay on existing roads. Do not invent a shortcut across a section line you have not checked.

What this page skips

No GPS grid of holes. No “the good ridge is 0.4 miles past the third cattle guard.” Status, cap, office. Same pattern as Topaz Mountain.

Informational only. Roads close, ranges heat up, and parcels trade. Verify land status and current BLM guidance before you dig.
