Coolers for west-desert day hunts

Disclosure: Affiliate links will go here after Amazon Associates approval. No buy buttons yet.

The job

Keep water cold from Delta to the Thomas Range and back when the cab is 100°F+. Soft six-packs die. A 45–65 quart hard cooler is overkill for a solo day hunt and perfect for two people plus samples you should not leave in the sun.

Two setups

What to ignore

Brand wars. Ice retention numbers from a garage test in Ohio. You need lid seal, latch that still works with dusty hands, and a size you can lift when it’s full of water and agate you already collected too much of.

After approval: one day-hunt pick, one overnight pick, one link each.
